Arthritis (literally "inflammation of joints") is a broad term, involving over 100 types of inflammatory or degenerative diseases affecting the joints. Arthritis - in all of its forms - is the leading cause of disability in developed countries. All forms of arthritis have the same initial symptoms: joint pain, stiffness and swelling.
